About Heather Thorning
Photography is my passion.I am a member of Workshop Camera Club in Western Australia.I have been photographing with a dslr camera for around 2 years, and now using a Nikon D90 with various lenses and also an Olympus EPL1 micro 4/3 camera.
I had the privellege of test running the the new Olympus EPL1
camera after being selected as one of 30 finalists in an Olympus photographic competition hosted through Photo Art
Gallery.I didn’t win the camera but after test driving it was so impressed with it that I purchased it.A great camera also for
travel being so light and more compact than my larger Nikon.
This last year 2010 is my first year at competition although
we do have our monthly Camera Club Comps that I have submitted entries into over the last 2 years. Our Club has around 130 members.A great Club with various workshops and photographic outings.
I recently won the Curtin University,National Science Week
photographic Competition in the Backyard section for a
Macro shot of a Dragonfly. Also was privelleged to have 3
images selected from the Photographic Society to be exhibited
at the Perth Royal Show for 2010.
And just recently received a Trophy for our end of year Camera Club Awards for overall winner in the Colour Subject
I own a Nikon D90 Dslr,Olympus Epli micro 4/3 camera and a Panasonic Lumix TZ8.I have several lenses for these cameras.Recently accuired a Sigma 150-500mm Af Telephoto lens that I just love to bits.
I hope one day to get recognised in photography and maybe a nature magazine cover feature.I am out photographing at least twice a week to get new inspiration and learn my cameras and lenses capabilities.I learn someting new or see somethind different each week.
